Ranger led walks at Sutton Heath

You can join our countryside rangers on a series of unique walks during the year and learn about heathland wildlife, fungi and plants at Sutton Heath.

The cost of each walk is £4 for adults, £2 for under 18s, pensioners and students.

All walks start at the Sutton Heath south car park off the B1083 to Sutton village, grid reference TM306475.

Up late with the Nightjar

NightjarA mid-summer night walk to seek out the elusive and rare nightjar. This nocturnal bird, famed for its churring love call and aerobatic courtship dance can provide a magical display. The well camouflaged ground nesting bird enjoys the recently cleared areas of lowland heathland. Please bring a torch and insect repellent, wear stout shoes and warm clothing.

Of Nightjars and Bats
