Discover Landguard
Located at the southerly most point of the town of Felixstowe the Landguard Peninsula has a wonderful and unique mix of history, nature and commerce.
Experience the rich military and maritime heritage of Landguard Fort, which has been defending the eastern region from attack for over 400 years. At the neighbouring Felixstowe Museum, you can discover amazing local history - fourteen rooms packed with treasures and artefacts celebrating this seaside town.
Surrounding the fort and museum are the wildflower rich grassland and coastal vegetated shingle habitats of Landguard Nature Reserve - home to wonderful flora and fauna. Go bird-watching, take a cycle ride or stroll along the beach. Our feathered friends here are all recorded by the Bird Observatory housed in a former military building.
A trip to Landguard is not complete without visiting the spectacular John Bradfield Viewing Area looking over Harwich Harbour and the Port of Felixstowe - the UK’s largest container port. Watch the daily activities and spot giant ships from around the world.

Felixstowe and Trimley circular walks
Discover the amazing history and explore the varied landscapes of Landguard, Felixstowe and Trimley with two new walking guides produced by the Landguard Partnership and Suffolk County Council. Both walks are about 6 miles long and link together to make a very interesting and full day out.
