Your Council Tax bill may be reduced by the equivalent of one
band if your home has certain features which are essential or of
major importance to the well being of a disabled person who lives
in there.
These features are:
- A room (other than a bathroom, kitchen or toilet) mainly used
by the disabled person which is required for meeting their needs (a
room used for the storage of dialysis equipment for example).
- A second bathroom or kitchen which is required for meeting
their needs.
- Sufficient floorspace to permit the use of a
wheelchair.
In order to qualify your home must have at least one of these
features. In considering your application we have to decide if the
disabled person would find it impossible or extremely difficult to
live at the property, or their health would suffer, or the
disability become more severe, if the feature were not present in
the property.
